I’m not sure I fully understand the question. In any case, although I don’t see how this relates to translation, my country, despite its small size, has a wide variety of dialects and regional accents, and in recent years, there has been a resurgence – perhaps due to the rise in tourism – of traditional music, particularly ‘cante alentejano’ (a polyphonic choral singing style from the Alentejo region of southern Portugal), ever since it was inscribed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural ... Anyway, artists are free to express themselves and create whatever they wish… ▲ Collapse

Slang?
IMO, dialects and slangs are different things.

My view is a bit blurred by the wording of this poll.

Me too. And how do "non-standard" regional dialects differ from "standard" regional dialects? Do standard dialects come with some kind of certificate?

I really like artists using their own dialect, e.g. bands singing in their regional dialect. I think it can help connect with people (as long as this is indeed their natural language version, not something adopted to seem "authentic") and variety.
Not sure about "non-standard" and I don't think I have an opinion on using any dialect in global media - I think dialects can be a way to appeal to people from that particular region but would not mean much to others all over the world.

Since dialects are very rarely standardised and therefore cannot be non-standard (or rather, are always non-stardard), the only option that comes to mind are regional dialects of minority languages such as Albanian in Italy, where the standardised language is Italian.

Anyway, I'm happy for artists to sing in any language, or language variant they like.
For example:

I have no idea what this song is about, but I love her voice.
And I think those clicks may be part of a "non-standard dialect".
