I am an American translator, editor, and translator-trainer, providing top-tier language services for the Eastern European academic, media, and business communities.
I was raised and educated in the U.S. but have been based in Eastern Europe for more than 30 years. I translate from Polish, Hungarian, and Russian into native English. My main strength lies in preparing publications for acceptance by major Western publishing houses and periodicals.
I have worked for numerous translation agencies and companies (Warsaw, Moscow, Budapest), and taught translation practice and theory at Warsaw University and the Warsaw School of Social Sciences and the Humanities (SWPS).
Many of the articles and books I have translated or edited have been published by top-notch international publishers and journals. I have published my own research papers in linguistics (in English and Polish) .
For 20 years, I was the chief translator and English language editor of Academia, the popular-science magazine of the Polish Academy of Sciences. I now serve as language editor for a number of scientific journals.
I also worked as a press translator for 20 years (coverage of Polish/RussianHungarian politics for a major US press agency).
I have also translated subtitles and scripts for a number of major media projects (mostly TVN-produced feature movies). Some of these projects are listed on my imdb page.
