German term
objektivierbar
German to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Befund, accident injuries:
"Manifeste Paresen sind nicht objektivierter."
I know what it means: objektivierbar=subjektunabhängig wiederholbar
But I was wondering whether I can use "reproducible" here: "Manifest palsies are not reproducible"? Does this make sense?
Any better ideas (it's 4 AM here and I am proving to be an OCD-perfectionist...between you and me, I could just go with "objectifiable" and call it a night...hehe).
But perhaps this entry will help others in the future and build our glossary, so I hope that we will ointly come up with an elegant solution to this. After all, translation is art.
THANKS

: I'm not entirely sure that this is what's meant here.

: That's how I read it as well - pt. possibly complains of weakness and inability to use muscles/limbs, but 'objective' tests like EMG, ENoG don't confirm any abnormalities.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean.

: with 'verifiable' only...'Objectively verifiable' seems like a tautology to me.

As far as 'evidence' is concerned, Altmayer says that
Evidence refers to "that which is apparently unquestionable, that which is recognisable by direct observation or insight".

: Not sure at all because Lirka's context indicates findings in a single patient ("Befund, accident injuries"). There's no comparison/reproducibility involved here, in my view.

subjective / subjectively confirmed
for some reason sometimes in German objektiverter means subjective. I think this is one of those cases. In other words, because it is manifest, it is not subjective.

It's about the results being repeated with other patients.
