Air purfiier units
I'm having a bit of trouble with the word "limpian" in this sentence. From what I have learned about how purifiers work, it's the filter that does the cleaning. I don't know whether it's a typo but it sounds like it's the particles doing the job. Do you agree?
Filtro de partículas de cerámica de platino que limpian el aire de olores desagradables y compuestos nocivos como formaldehído, acetaldehído, etc. El filtro no necesita ser reemplazado, es suficiente lavarlo regularmente con agua.
Thanks for your help.

: Yes - 'cleanse' is used in US adverts by this manufacturer to describe what this catalyst does to the air when it removes the odours.

: A filter consists of a filter material. It may be a membrane or adsorbant particles, among other things.

The filter cleans because the particles clean
You are right, the filter does the job, but it doesn't sound strange to me as a native spanish speaker to hear that.
I understand that, if the filter cleans using particles then the particles are doing the cleaning too :D

: Yes, the particles are the filter, although a filter may consist of more than one filter material.

The technology is described in one of their American websites (https://www.mitsubishicomfort.com/articles/air-quality/filte... as "Platinum Deodorizing filters, which also cleanse the air of unpleasant odors, are found in premium units. These filters absorb foul smells through the use of a platinum catalyst. They use nanotechnology, which makes them incredibly efficient at absorbing odor at the molecular level. A nanometer-scale mesh platinum catalyst deodorizing filter catches and absorbs even the tiniest particulate matter in the air. "
(I always thought that a heterogeneous catalyst adsorbed rather than absorbed the gas molecules.) It seems that, in this case, the catalyst just traps the molecules of formaldehyde etc. on the platinum surface. Nanometer scale just means there is more surface area to 'catch' the molecules making the process more effective, and I'm pretty sure all catalysts operate at a molecular level! Marketing at its best/worst?
