Hi, I understand that they mowed hectares of grassland but what is eingefahren in this sense? Is it when farmers leave the hay on the ground? Is there a specific word in English for this?
Thanks in advance

Comes to mind spontaneously.
They cut the hay and brought it in.

While technically still grass when being cut, a farmer would always say "we are cutting hay today". If you are cutting grass, you are moving the lawn. At least in the US.

: it is only hay after it has dried... if they cut it and immediately brought it in, it would still be grass ;-)

Whether it be hay or grass - it is still being "brought in" and that is the term in question.

Discussion
So, they did not only mow the grass but also transport it back to the farm instead of leaving it on the field and let it dry for usage as hay.
