How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Björn Vrooman Dec 13, 2016: Steffen I think that was a layout choice by whoever created the table (to differentiate between total amounts and what is being subtracted; I've seen something like that before). At least, I can't think of any possible reason for a placeholder here.

Björn Vrooman Dec 13, 2016: @Armorel and Cilian Take a look at page 2 (middle): http://www.petra-sitte.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Steuerb... It's not any different on my tax returns - every time they write "ab," it means "abzüglich." Steffen should have these papers too :)

KathyAnna O (asker) Dec 12, 2016: I don't quite understand the "ab" word here. Is it abbr. for 'abgezogen'? does it mean those amounts under "Sonderausgaben" are deductible?
