Admitting Station for Supine Patients
I do not have a reference; it is simply a description of what the Liegendaufnahmestation would be for.

Admissions ward
This is the ward where in which patients are admitted to hospital. They may then be transferred to specialist wards (or discharged) after initial examinations.
"Liegend" only means that they get a hospital bed - ie. they are inpatients - namely those patients who spend the night in hospitals.
For more on admissions and inpatients, see the website cited below

: "liegend" means that the patients arrive on a trolley (they can't walk).

That's as may be. They'll usually wheel you in on a trolley anyway, even if you can walk. Liegend and ambulant is more about inpatients and outpatients.

non-ambulant = not able to walk in to the hospital, i.e. arriving by ambulance on a stretcher.
I think a couple of the other contributors may have mistaken this for its opposite: 'not in an ambulance'

Hypothermia in elderly patients presenting to accident & emergency during the onset of winter... The incidence of hypothermia was higher in non-ambulant patients...
