Comment: "Thanks. I was just wondering if there was a specific legal term for this that I wasn't aware of. Appreciate the help! "

With the additional implication of a demand for files, not just a search for them.

: "was used" but not "now used" - it went extinct with the writ of summons// yes and it justified a charge separate from that of actually "getting" the search in many a solicitor's bill of costs!

Odd. Unlike writ of summons, it wasn't part of the E&W civil justice reforms in 1998, but is or was used in search practice only.// Good practical Bill (not Spanish-answerer H.) of Costs now known as Fee Note point. Nothing quite like hands-on experience.

Thanks, Trudy!! I "*consulted" the Grosse Eichborn and they suggest: "access " to files. Beiziehen, as I understand it, goes further than just "obtain": it means "obtain, read and draw conclusions". IMO.
