French term

dalles de regard

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
Hello,

I am carrying out a French to English construction document and I am stuck on a few terms of which one is: "dalles de regard"

I think that they are manholes in a pavement but would be great to get confirmation.

The full sentence is: "plate forme pierres a terminer et pose des dalles de regard"

Thanks

Andy

manhole cover slab

The basic role of a cover slab is to provide a firm platform to both 'cap' the chamber and to carry the cover along with any regulating brickwork. They are typically manufactured in a high-strength, steel-reinforced concrete, and, for manholes, the minimum opening size of 600x600mm is created within the cover slab during the casting process. agree Miranda Joubioux (X) : definitely 'cover slab', but whether it is a manhole or inspection chamber remains to be seen

inspection chamber reduction slabs

I suggest that it is better to avoid the word "manhole" as a "regard" is not necessarily that large and also the term "inspection chamber" is preferred nowadays. Generally, the covers are not "dalles" and if "dalles" are being used, they are probably reduction slabs to reduce the size of the opening to the size of the cover.

dalle de regard/plaque de regard

Dalle de regard appears to be a less-used synonym for plaque de regard. Here is a link to images of plaques de regard:
