He aquí lo que dice la RAE de pescado:
(Del lat. piscātus).
1. m. Pez comestible sacado del agua por cualquiera de los procedimientos de pesca.
Tampoco los "pescados" son salados, a menos que se los sale para secarlos, prepararlos en conserva, etc.
Supongo que aquí arriba se están refiriendo al "cured herring" o "pickled herring"....
Además, Plagaz, el pez no es salado. Probablemente te estés refiriendo a la forma en que se prepara.
