Hi Leon, in my experience there are two possibilities for the term. One refers to studies of assessment (for instance, in waste water), another (used in conjunction with recycling), to the recovery of materials (such as gold, conductors, plastic...) HTH.

I think "valoración" of the e-waste actually means "giving a value to the e-waste", in other words, re-using it, because in fact, according to one specialist processor of e-waste, all the recycled waste is re-used:
"At EWC (eWaste Center) we recycle televisions, monitors, computers, printers, copiers, faxes, cellphones, laptops, basically all electronics. Each item is dismantled and broken down to its lowest commodity. ***All commodities have a destination and are used for new products***."
