Italian term

apicale

Italian to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Company law
This is the context:
"Con il decreto legislativo 8 giugno 2001 n. 231 è stata disciplinata la “responsabilità degli enti per gli illeciti amministrativi dipendenti da reato” ... da esponenti dei vertici aziendali (i c.d. soggetti “in posizione apicale” o semplicemente “apicali”)

The meaning is clearly "the senior management", but I'm in doubt whether to translate it "apical" or just "top". Is there already an accepted translation like statutory auditor for sindaco?
Proposed translations (English)
3 +1 subjects who occupy top positions

Italian term (edited): soggetti “in posizione apicale”

subjects who occupy top positions

cheers
Note from asker:
Thanks for trying, but I don't like "subjects" to much. I was looking for some reasoning. If for example the CONSOB has already translated this piece of Italian law then I should follow that translation, even if I don't appreciate it much.
