Proposed translations (English)
4 Every cash register must have a sales account ledger

Yes... I too had a "reading lapsus" and read the text two or three times before it registered that it was a carnet, not a carte, made more susceptible, I guess, because "carnet" is a credit or I.D. card in Spanish...

Isn't it funny how the brain records carte de debit instead of carnet? THat happened to me in Spanish the other day, with two paragraphs where the only difference was provisional and provisorio or something like that.

Sylvia, it's for the U.S.... and they distinguish between the specific point-of-sale terminal and the more general register...

Is this for the US or UK ("cash register" vs "till")? Although I guess "cash register" is fairly universal.

I would forget the allocated,assigned etc...the thing needs to already be there..the assigning/allocating is just Style!

agree Adam Warren : As, with ... cash register", this is the idea: I think the term "till" is used, as in "till row" or "till line"; I think "carnet de débit" must be something like a cashbook for recording things like credit notes ("avoirs"), outpayments like cashback...
