Dear colleagues and nevertheless friends,

Yes, I know I should stay calm, find balance, elevate my soul from wordly matters, and actively look for spiritual insight and tranquility, and God knows I try my best, but with 13 weeks elapsed already and reaching the magical figure of 14 weeks --why on Earth does it have to take that long?--, does any of you (especially those in the UK) have news about the results of the examination last January 29th?

All best,

Keep calm Apr 29, 2011

From my experience as a lecturer on the course, last year's results were distributed to the staff on 14th May. But I assume that the students themselves were notified a little earlier. So you should know in 2 weeks' time at the latest.

Don't expect efficiency! Apr 30, 2011

In terms of bureaucracy they are pre-historic! I wish they'd make it to the 20th century let alone the 21st!
And when you think about how much you have to pay to take the exams it gets me really angry - fortunately I am done and dusted with them - except for being a member. They do seem to be able to manage that process well.

Arrived today in Germany Apr 30, 2011

Hello Tomás,

I appreciate your "suffering" entirely, I've also been waiting for the results since Jan. Seems more like 6 months than 3!

However, my wait came to an end today.

Since I'm based in Germany, you'll presumably know next week at the latest, unless for some reason Germany gets special treatment :=)

Here's hoping you will be as pleased with your results as I was

Hi Tomas and all May 2, 2011

I live in France and got mine on Saturday. Second time lucky for me!Don't know if you remember Tomas I asked for a re-mark last year on the paper I didn't pass and I think it paid off as I was able to see and correct my mistakes for this year.
Hope you all do really well
Regards
Lisa

Smashing! Congratulations Lisa. Yes, I think your remark request does ring a bell.

I really think it makes sense to ask for a remark if you are pretty sure that your translation was a good one. Unfortunately the whole remark/appeal process (in three steps) takes awfully long and last year I had my last communications with them in November. Finally it was a fail for one of my papers, which I have repeated this year.

Your successes are making me really nervous this time! I hope to receive my results these days in Spain.

A colleague I took the exam with in Madrid received her results (a pass as well) today in the afternoon, so I reckon that depending on your location it could still take a couple of days more.

If you don't receive the letter, you might want to call the center where you took the exam and ask them whether they have received the results (they receive a list), as a proof that your exam was graded and that results should be on their way.

If you don't receive your results this week, you might want to call IOL next week and ask them whether all results have been dispatched already; in that case, you could perhaps double-check what address they have in their records.

Thanks Tomás May 4, 2011

I will try very hard to be patient. Curiously, my patience is getting shorter the closer I am getting to the date upon which I should receive my results. I've been fine over the last few months and now I'm not sure if I can handle hanging on until next week! (Oh, well... I'll have to).

Your sugggestion of contacting the exam centre is a good one. I didn't realise that they were notified.

Thanks! (And really well done!)...

Yes, I know how it feels! Last year I asked for the clerical check, remark, and appeal in one of the papers (yes, I am the stubborn kind I reckon!), and had to wait until mid-November for the final result (a Fail). It is hard, but try to keep cool, forget about it, and think that, whatever the result, you have done your very best in the exams.

A Pass will be reason for celebration, but a Fail has its positive side as well since you now have the experience of doing the exam and, if you have to repeat some paper, you will be a lot calmer all over the process and the results will be definitely better.

November! May 4, 2011

Goodness me! That's a long and agonizing wait and lo demás son tonterías.
So it's a double triumph for you this time! One for passing and one for your tenacity and perseverance.
Thanks alot for your advice and once again well done!
I'll be sitting here chewing my nails and checking the letterbox every 5 minutes for the moment it seems!
