In an idle moment in Tallinn I noticed that many Estonian words miss out an initial s from the German - peglin, tudent, traf, tube - mirror, student, fine, room. But, this is my question, this also occurs in Finnish as well (I know the Finish for mirror is cognate with peglin) so it can't just be Germans going into Estonia, but some deeper Germanic influence.

well, these are definitely no Estonian words: peglin, tudent, traf, tube
I don't know where you've got them from, but not from the Estonian language anyway.
