I'm a Project Mgr in a newly formed Translation department within a global company, and I'm wondering about the use of the workflow program called WorkFlow for a translations management system. Our translators have been given access to Global Link (part of TransPerfect's translation suite), and I believe it works in much the same way as the Trados Translation ManagemenSystem. I'm thinking that using something else to manage the translation such as WorkFlow would be a waste of time since one already exists with TransPerfect, but could anyone confirm this? The plan is to maintain a spreadsheet of all standards (acceptable terms to retain the voice), and then ensure that the TM is updated in TransPerfect. Wouldn't it just make more sense, if these capabilities exist with TransPerfect, just to use that instead?

The problem is that department managers (who don't understand translations or the process) want to use what the rest of the company is using to keep all parts of the entire process together.

I'd appreciate anyone's input here.

Thanks!
