Shamsu also holds a very market-driven Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree specializing in Entrepreneurial Management which was completed in December 2008 and graduated in June 2009. The Masters degree is awarded by the Entrepreneurship Institute Australia (EIA) in collaboration with the Gibaran Graduate School of Business in Adelaide, South Australia. The MBA is fully accredited by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and recognized by the South Australian government as having the same standing as any business management post-graduate qualification from an Australian university. The post-graduate degree is also recognized by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Shamsu started his career as an English Language teacher at Sekolah Menengah Sultan Sulaiman, Kuala Terengganu from January 1980 to May 1981 upon completion of his two-year Teacher Training course at Maktab Perguruan Bahasa (Language Institute) Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur in 1979. He has a total of more than twenty three (23) years experience in management as a Branch Manager in the insurance industry both in Capital Insurance Berhad and also in the merged entity Oriental Capital Assurance Berhad after the company’s merger with United Oriental Assurance Berhad since November 2003. He has been involved in all aspects of general insurance sales and marketing management, underwriting, claims, human resource and Branch office administration. He has been a team leader heading the company’s operations in Kuala Terengganu and simultaneously single-handedly managed the business development as well as being hands on with all agents, adjusters, repairers, corporate/direct clients and successfully interacted at all levels in the business community.
Since March 2006 he was seconded to head the Branch Operations department in the company’s Head Office in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur in charge of monitoring the productivity as well as profitability of the company’s seventeen (17) Branch offices nationwide and other support services to the Branch offices at the Head Office level. He was also responsible for various other specified Branch administration job functions which includes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training of all general insurance Agents in areas such as Product Knowledge, Sales, Marketing, Motivation, Business Communication, Management Skills and Entrepreneurship. He reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization during almost the entire years of his employment in the insurance industry.
Shamsu was the Senior Manager – Business & Client Development overseeing three strategic business units in the Malaysian Institute of Management from August 2009 until June 2010. He was Head of Akademi PUSPAKOM/Head of Training, Human Resource Management Division in PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd until March 2011. My dissertation, Loss of Infinitival Complementation in Romanian. Diachronic Syntax, is a comprehensive diachronic syntax study of complement clauses in Romanian, which focuses on obligatory control clauses constructed with subjunctive in Contemporary Romanian and with infinitive and subjunctive as well in Older Stages of Romanian.
After graduation, for family reasons, I only was able to work as a freelance translator.
