She learned Spanish while living and studying in Mexico for ten years and is certified by the American Translators Association for translation from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish. Esther worked as an in-house medical translator, disability examiner, and training director for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and taught medical terminology there for 19 years. She has more than 30 years of experience as a medical translator and trainer.
A co-founder of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association, Esther also created the seven-course Translation and Interpretation Certificate Program at Austin Community College. She has taught interpreter workshops for refugee resettlement agencies throughout Texas and is an adjunct faculty member of Austin Community College.
