Reject? Jun 3

I have never had a client outright reject my translation. There have been instances of criticism, both justified and not justified, but my translations (including any corrections and/or rationalizations) have always been accepted and paid.
If a client ever were to actually reject my translation, I would definitely proceed to discuss its shortcomings and the next steps.

I never had a rejection from a client (touch wood!). I had a case of a delayed payment due to quality issues with other translators working on the same multiple language project, but that’s all!

Never been rejected Jun 3

You'd either have to be a bad translator or the client was trying to pull a fast one if your translation was rejected. I once had a client reject my translation on the grounds that the end client no longer wanted it. I never worked for her again, even though she kept trying to send me things and couldn't understand my refusal.

Has never happened, but I wouldn't be impressed.

I've never had anyone reject my translation outright. Clients have sometimes asked me to change things. There's a lot of subjectivity in my fields of art and music, so I don't mind.

I will obviously discuss the "shortcomings" with the client, being sure to stand my ground when I'm definitely right. I usually concede a subjective point or two so they don't think I'm being bolshie.

Well, apart from when they tell me that Mary from Accounts showed it to her boyfriend who worked in a pub in London for six months. At some point, the fact that I was born and bred in the UK, and have a Master in translation, and have worked in translation for over 25 years, has to be taken seriously.
