Michael Tovbin . Does not rate more than 3 stars. The desktop software itself remains much the same with all of us known Princeton's. The purported have changer Live is a disappointment. If it's half baked, full of bugs, and less than it's promise. First off, you cannot convey your existing projects to online. Second, it is not like you can work off of any device. Third, the naming convention for the folders is not self explanatory. To summarize, a lot of work will be required to make it truly usable.

How easy is it to learn?
Full of bugs, even worse after the first update
Review by
Annette Bredewold . Are you kidding me?? I purchased this version in hope to get a more reliable version of Studio than Studio 2019. But I really regret this purchase.
2021 has only some new features, but even more bugs than the 2019 version. To get the integration of world-server-packages, (I had to, because many of my clients are still sending them) cost me countless hours of stress, and even after the integration of the world-package feature it only works sometimes, mostly not. So I have to use the 2019 version for a lot of these packages, where you can wait for this "creating preview"-bug in connection with confirming segments as soon as a package is bigger than 10.000 words. Same issue also in 2021 (if you are lucky, and a world-server package is working at all) - so nothing has changed.
After I installed the update SR1 last week I am not even able to add new clients. Even with such a minor feature the hole program crashes.
With regard to the new features comparing with the features in 2019 I would eveluate the 2021 version as completely pointless. If I deliver such poor work to a client I am not being paid for this.

Disappointed with Trados Live
Review by
Luciana Vianna . This version was a total miss for me. I thought that with Trados Live I would be able to migrate to an online version of Trados, but that is not true.
Trados Live does not support Trados files. C'mon!!! They can't open even their own files! I used SmartCat to import a Trados file. And that is a free tool.
Super disappointed with this upgrade. It did not bring what was promissed.

Disappointing
Review by
Bridget Jean . I was really excited with Studio 21 release but what a disappointment!
I can't use the projects I create on my desktop with the online version, as a result I had to buy another SDL licence for my laptop!
The online editor doesn't change the brackets or apostrophes automatically and I must type the ASCII code each time, so I gave up the online editor.
It's such a shame!

Gets the job done
Review by
Stephen McCann . I've been using Trados forever, to the point that we have a sort of symbiotic relationship, and it certainly gets the job done in a way that I am used to, but I don't think all the upgrades over the years have really fixed many of the bugs that have plagued the software for ages. As for some of the newer features, I don't really use many of them so I have no opinion on them.
I don't know if I would recommend Trados to somebody who is just starting out, as the learning curve can be steep and there is very little by way of official support (unless you're willing to pay extra for that). However, I personally prefer it to any of the other CAT tools I've tried (sorry MemoQ and Transit).
