Born and educated in the Netherlands I settled in Britain in 1982, where I completed my University Degree and made my career as a senior manager in Third Sector organisations, setting up and managing arts and cultural projects. I now run my own freelance consultancy, advising clients on creative collaborations and stakeholder engagement, as well as organisational and Board development.
I have worked as a translator and interpreter on an ad hoc basis for many years, to keep in touch with my native language, to practice my writing skills and to supplement income. Translations included manuals, official documents, letters and other documents. Since working freelance I have accepted regular translation and interpretation assignments, following an offer of a large translation project of court proceedings and witness statements (mostly Dutch>English, but also some English>Dutch) related to a complex cross-border divorce and custody case.
I am well educated and read prolifically in English and Dutch, as well as occasionally in German, which I can understand and speak well. Recently I have completed a creative writing course with the Open University, working towards a PGD, with the aim of writing for publication alongside my consultancy work.
