Thanks. I don't know when I last heard a theme in a classical piece called "gutsy" but I definitely like it! Still, what the translator likes and what the client expects are often two very different things...

That's true, and interesting because it proves how context-dependent a lot of Japanese words are. We'd really need to see the whole text to make an accurate (although still probably subjective) judgment, but I'm sure the asker will translate accordingly.

a key theme with attitude

I'm sure there are probably several different ways to express this.
For 構えの大きい you could say something like "with attitude", "with guts (gutsy)"
As for 主要主題, something along the lines of "key theme", "main topic", etc. Given that your context is music, I went for 'theme,' but others may have better suggestions.
