Arabic term

ٍ حط جزء من الربح قبيل حسن الاقتضاء

Arabic to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Sentence:

فيجوز للمصرف حط جزء من الربح من قبيل حسن الاقتضاء

Also:

السداد المبكر مع حط جزء من الربح عند السداد

Is this (per firs sentence) "the bank may postpone some of the profits till a short period before the due date"?

Thanks for your help...

I guess I got part of the meaning of that: Lowering/Taking out some of the profit until just before the due date... (Still not too sure if "due date" is the best rendition for "hisn al-iktida'a"... Please, if you have an answer, I would appreciate it if you focus on "hisn al-iktida'a." Thanks.

to waive a portion of the profit by way of incentive

"The bank may waive a portion of the profit by way of setting an example"

حط/يحُطُ is to reduce, devalue, belittle, bring down, etc.
I think the word قبيل here is qabil as opposed to qubayl. So من قبيل means من باب, or by way of ...

حسن الاقتضاء means to set a good example, literally providing a model to followed.

So what you have here is probably an installment payment agreement in which the bank has the option (without making it an obligation) to give up a portion of the interest if the client pays early. The interest is referred to here as profit since the word used is ربح rather than فائدة.

In this context you could also stretch the meaning of "by way of setting an example" to "by way of incentive", so if you choose this wording, you get:

"The bank may waive a portion of the profit by way of incentive."

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Yes, Alaa, your rendition makes great sense, and I wish you had responded a bit earlier as I had to turn in the translation on the "due date" of last Monday!!! Hopefully, the client won't have a fit... Perhaps, another way of putting it would be: "The bank may waive a portion of the profit if payment is made before the due date," although I'm going out on a limb here... Anyway, thanks Alaa, even if your wonderful suggestions came in some 3 days late..."
