Spanish term

farol

Spanish to English Art/Literary Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts)
This word usually means streetlamp or headlight, but I wonder if it has a specific meaning in photography (the abuelo was a photographer)

Si algo caracteriza a algunos artesanos para generar sus instrumentos de trabajo es la necesidad de recurrir a la inventiva, más en estas comarcas alejadas entonces. ¡Mi abuelo hizo faroles con latas de kerosene en el primer estudio!

The text is by an Argentine.
Thanks

Discussion

Sergio Kot Dec 14, 2022:
Suggestion: "photography/studio lights" - "My grandpa made photography (or studio) lights out of kerosene tins". Unless the text speaks of a time when the only way to make light was by means of "lanterns".

Or 'flood-light'. As distinct from a 'spot-light', which is a 'foco'.
