Discussion

Bourth Feb 5, 2022:
Brendan McNally (asker) Feb 5, 2022:
Yes, I think you're right, this slide is more concerned with the general performance of the company, in which case Profit & Losses fits.
philgoddard Feb 5, 2022:
Are you sure this is about health and safety? "Valeur" implies financials, in which case Bokani's answer is almost certainly correct.

neutral Tony M : That's what I thought, standard abbreviation; but hard to see quite how it fits Asker's context here?

agree philgoddard : I don't think this particular bit is about safety. And I would just leave it as "P&L". I think Steve's separate answer is unnecessary.

Thanks Phil
agree Bourth : Profit & Loss ACCOUNT.

Thanks for this helpful clarification
neutral Steve Robbie : "Profits and losses" in the plural is inappropriate. As above, it's a P&L ACCOUNT but in this context you can dispense with the word account.

neutral AllegroTrans : "Un P&L" - i.e. singular - strongly suggests that it is referring to the account itself

P&L

"P&L by unit"

As pointed out by CadastreToulous in the discussion, the source is referring to a profit & loss account, also known in some contexts as an income statement.
But you don't need to spell that out, because we use the same abbreviation in the same way in English. I guarantee you that anyone reading a report about performance measurement will understand it.

Don't write "profits & losses" in the plural, it will only suggest that you're not really familiar with the subject.

@Asker: You don't have to award me the points - I don't care about the points - but please, please, please don't adopt "profits and losses" in the plural as the answer.
