Arabic term or phrase: يسامحه في الدين
Hi all,

*trigger warning: suicide reference*

I am translating a Libyan short story. In this section, the narrator is talking about his neighbour who committed suicide. He borrowed the rope he used to hang himself from someone else, and never paid for the rope before he died. Now the community is gossiping about that fact rather than feeling sorry for him:

ُكان قد استلفَ الحبلَ من دكان الحاج مرزوق، ووعد بتسديد ثمنه ما أن يستلم الراتب.

،الميت ارتكب جريمتين، الأولى قتله لنفسه، والثانية ذهابه للآخرة دون سداد ثمن الحبل.

سيكون العذاب الذي ينتظره رهيباً مالم يسامحه الحاج مرزوق في الدين.

I'm not sure how to translate this phrase... So far, I was thinking "Forgive him for his sin". But that's a guess..

Thanks in advance for your help!

English translation:Forgive him
Explanation:
It is simply forgive him. There's no need to translate the whole clause. The meaning is quite ear and conveyed precisely.

في السطر الثاني ورد أنه مات دون سداد ثمن الحبل ما يعني أن هناك حق مالي في رقبته. هذا يشير إلى أن المقصود هو دين بفتح الدال.
