Discussion

Andrej Furlan Apr 22, 2021:
Good idea Michael! :-) I think that Swedes do reach far to easily and to often for "Swenglish", not thinking about the possibility and consequences of change of meaning. Why not write "tåliga elektronikprodukter" or "robusta elektronikprodukter" - those products are, after all, aimed to the defense sector as a potential customer.
Michael Ellis Apr 22, 2021:
Moulting I would feel tempted to tease the copywriter by translating this as '..supply moulting electronics...' to show him that Swenglish can sometimes give you the opposite of what you intend!!

moult

I think "moult" should be the word.
Here is the definition from Norsteds svenska ordbok:
rugga -ade -at 1. fälla gamla fjädrar och få nya (om fågel), 2 behandla (tyg) med karda så att ytan blir tjockare och mjukare genom att lugg bildas, 3 (mest refl. och med partikeln upp) göra (sig) yvig och luftig
Peer comment(s):

neutral SafeTex : Hello Andrej: You cannot backtranslate in this case like that. "Moult" is for birds, not electronic products
