Je comprends la structure for... + -ing comme signifiant « afin de... » (etc.). Si on retient votre interprétation, la syntaxe de la phrase serait fautive ; il manquerait un verbe : /Clear an area/ for/ leaning boards/ to stand??[ou autre verbe ?] /up against the wall.
