блюдо исконно русской кухни

I'll try to convey what it means to me... "Yes, this is home-made -- something truly made in Russia!"

Да, конечно, это метафора. Поэтому у меня и возникли сомнения: уместно ли переводить как есть? Надеюсь на авторитетное мнение коренных носителей языка.

neutral beermatt : so sorry to contradict and water down the agreements, but no! In my understanding, this only marginally conveys the meaning of the original.

Думаю, в этом контексте речь идет точно не о блюдах. речь идет о рассказе, поэтому можно перевести как story, или взять слово с широкой семантикой, типа thing, phenomenon, piece, work и другие

"authentic dish of Russian cuisine"

is it too brave to reply literally? inverted commas may help like "authentic recipe"
e.g. The story has been dished up in a hundred different ways
Yes, it's “a genuine dish of authentic Russian cuisine”! i.e. double-authentic, как две большие разницы:) mouth-watering?

a dish of unadulterated Russian cuisine
