Boa sugestão! Concordo. Nesses casos, é sempre bom confirmar com o cliente, principalmente se o contexto não oferece elementos suficientes para tirar uma conclusão definitiva. Aliás, estou impressionado com a falta de contexto em muitas perguntas! Contexto é fundamental para o tradutor.

É possível... Se o autor realmente tiver escolhido o termo certo, deveria ser uma bandeira mesmo, Oliveira.
No entanto, a julgar pelo texto - que inclui coisas como "break wear set" (!!) e outras escolhas meio infelizes (como destacado pelo Nick em outra questão), e a julgar também pelo contexto, biruta me parece mais provável. Mas realmente é questão de confirmar com o cliente.

Are they the same? It looks like the only thing they have in common is the word "wind", but they actually mean quite different things:

windsock - resembles a giant sock; shows the direction of the wind; translates as "biruta".
windmill- converts the energy of wind into rotational energy; "moinho de vento" in Portuguese
wind vane (aka weather vane, weathercock) - an instrument for showing the direction of the wind; it's typically used as an architectural ornament to the highest point of a building. "Catavento" in Portuguese
windflag - shows the direction and the speed of the wind; not the same as windmill, windsock or wind vane!
