I'm not sure what is the exact term, but I'm 100% sure of the intended meaning - "intérieure" does not mean indoor/inside a building, but "inside client's property" or more accurately "within the responsibility of the client" regarding compliance to norms and maintenance. It's about electrical installations that are "internal" in relation to the "public/outside" supply grid.
A client being connected directly to the medium voltage network could be a biggish factory with many separate buildings and a "connection point" between the grid and the internal network of the site outside of the buildings; a significant part of the "installation intérieure" could in fact be between the buildings, not only inside them.

: Exactly! Not too sure of the correct jargon term myself either, but your explanation is spot on. In these sorts of power situation, the exact point at which responsibility passes from supplier to user is very important and tightly defined.

Private/Domestic Installation
In many cases that I have come across, many private factories have their own transformer to step down from 11000 Volts to 440 Volts in the yard of their factory. This is provide for bulk users of power, as it is cheaper to buy bulk power. In this case the transformer will be installed by the consumer and will be fed directly from overhead lines. I have myself got it done in many of the factories I was associated with.

It is not a Domestic instaalation but an INDUSTRIAL installation as my explanation confirms. Any industry which uses bulk power can have their own transformer and step it down to 440 Volts. Purchase of bulk power is cheaper.

: Although 'private' could be OK, I'm afraid 'domestic' would definietly NOT be, as that generally opposes (e.g.) 'industrial', which as you yourself rightly say, is more likely to be the context here.
