Buenas tardes, necesito que me confirmen o me desasnen sobre este término.
Tengo un intercambio de opiniones con un cliente en cuanto al término en el siguiente contexto:
Quarter pillar
Quarter window
Quarter pillar duct
Tengo entendido que este quarter es sencillamente el panel lateral trasero, desde la puerta trasera hasta el final del vehículo. Es decir, los términos anteriores serían
Montante/columna lateral trasero/a
Ventanilla triangular lateral trasera
Conducto del montante/columna lateral trasero/a
Pero en la memoria está traducido como "cuarta parte" y necesito alguna explicación con fundamento o referencia para sustentar mi postura (si es que es correcta). He visto la opción en el glosario de Proz pero solo la sustentan opiniones personales.

Your suggested translation "panel lateral trasero" [rear quarter panel] based on every link I have looked at (incl. dictionaries online) provide your proposed answer.

Quarter-panel(or rear quarter panel) refers to the panel at the back sides starting at the rear edge of the rearmost doors, bordered by at top by the trunk (boot) lid and at bottom by the rear wheel arches ending at the rear bumper. This is the opposite of the fender.Literally, the term originally referred to the rear quarter of the car's length.
