French term
puissance supérieure à 90 %
French to English
Medical
Medical: Pharmaceuticals
From a clinical drug trial. Here's the complete sentence:
La taille de l’échantillon résultant est de 124 patients dans chacun des groupes mentionnés ci-dessus (à savoir, brexpiprazole 2 mg/jour, brexpiprazole 1 mg/jour et placebo), ce qui peut donner globalement une puissance supérieure à 90 % (au moins un groupe de dose supérieure est significatif).
Could I use "potency" here for "puissance" (higher than 90% potency / above 90% potency)?
thanks

It's not the potency of the drug that is meant here. It's the statistical power (how strong the statistics are).

The power of a statistical test is the probability that the test will reject the null hypothesis when the alternative hypothesis is true (i.e. the probability of not committing a Type II error).
However, when we combined the data across several experiments giving a sample size of sixty-two participants per group (and a statistical power of over .80)

In addition, AtheroGenics has proposed a decrease in the target number of clinical events from 1,160 to approximately 1,000. This revised target number will continue to yield greater than 95 percent statistical power to detect a 20 percent difference in clinical events between the study arms.

power/potency > 90%
Why not use power?
-1
14 mins
Potency/effect
I'd use one of these alternates.
