Italian term

hanno assistito alla scena e ne sono testimoni

Non-PRO Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general) glossary/definitions
An airline passenger complaint (against staff):

"Viaggiavo con altre 5 persone, che hanno assistito alla scena e ne sono anche testimoni."

I came across this sentence and I am trying to figure out whether it's a little redundant or we are actually talking about about two specific actions.

"Witnessed the whole thing/episode" does not sound enough to me, I am getting the feeling I am leaving something out.

The second part makes me think the people who witnessed the scene are indeed willing to testify, should they ever have to go to court.

thanks.

were present during the incident and were eye witnesses (to it)

I see what you mean- I think you could say something like this to underline the fact they were watching closely enough in order to be classed as eye witnesses from a legal point of view. Hope it helps.
