An airline passenger complaint (against staff):
"Viaggiavo con altre 5 persone, che hanno assistito alla scena e ne sono anche testimoni."
I came across this sentence and I am trying to figure out whether it's a little redundant or we are actually talking about about two specific actions.
"Witnessed the whole thing/episode" does not sound enough to me, I am getting the feeling I am leaving something out.
The second part makes me think the people who witnessed the scene are indeed willing to testify, should they ever have to go to court.

I see what you mean- I think you could say something like this to underline the fact they were watching closely enough in order to be classed as eye witnesses from a legal point of view. Hope it helps.
