hands on product/equipment demonstration/training

here goes. mise en main can mean ringing in hand. in the majority of the contexts I found, mise en main was where the customer took the product in hand (under supervision) whther it was a boat, a car, computer equipment, programs etc. lots of sites to look at. it also has an equestrian context that doesn't fit your scenario: some sites to take alook at. I hope this helps:
www.catana.com/actualite/actualite_juillet.html
www.ops.fr/acrobat4/livreinf.pdf
www.alystel.com/catalog/Paradox/digital/Divie01.pdf

this last site concerns stereo equipment. the search engine gave the phrase: mise de fonction ou de main. but when i actually searched the document, I only found mise de fonction.

hand over

I think lefoque's answer is probably going to fit best in your context, but more succinctly, I find simply 'hand over' often fits, where it is a question of briefly training someone to use something --- like a hire car, fro example.

Hope this helps 1
