sondeurs
Bonjour,
Je traduis les caractéristiques techniques d'un écho-sondeur. Dans la partie affichage, il y a
Expansion Range qui se divise en deux parties :
- Bottom-lock expansion 3-10 m 3-10 m
- Sectional expansion 2-50 m
Merci pour toutes vos idées et suggestions.

Pure guesswork, I'm afraid!
Just to say that 'extension' here seems to me to have the sense of 'enlarge the scale of the display', and 'section' refers to a 'slice' of the depth of water, not tied to the sea bed (as in bottom-lock).
But I have no idea if this is anything close to the actual term used, so back to you for the in-depth research!

: Hi! I agree, it must be that - my try seems good for zoom, but the other element is unsure.

Quite a few Ghits concerning map enlargements.

: Only snag is, 'zoom' is often used for x-y display (maps etc.) whereas in this context, we're talking about a 'slice' of the depth (= z dimension, if you will)

... je cherche, je sonde... se pourrait-il qu'il s'agisse de ce terme?

D'apres ecrans visités (Χ67C_0151-161_120803) je trouve: écran partagé:coupe transversale. Cela vous aide?

: Although 'sweeping' certainly can be relevant in echo-sounding / sonar contexts, i do'nt eblieve that is what is being referred to in this particular instance

Sonar depth sounder apparatus
Patent Abstract:
An improved microprocessor-controlled sonar depth sounder, which is automatically operative to detect and lock to the bottom of a body of water, fill in the display below the detected bottom, change display scales in response to the detected bottom going off-scale, and reformat the entire display in response to a scale change. A memory is provided for storing target data up to the operable depth limits of the device, thereby allowing display reversing and display expansion or "zoom" of a predetermined portion of the display selected by a zoom cursor. The zoom or cursor is variably positionable at different depths. The device employs an improved variable sensitivity amplifier. Also disclosed is an improved water-resistant switch construction for marine electronic equipment.
