Viktoria Gimbe (asker) Oct 11, 2005:
dur cuire Just thought I'd let you know what I ended up using. Thanks to everyone for their efforts!
Conor McAuley Oct 7, 2005:
I suppose poor puns are part of Brit culture, eh Charlie??? ;-)))
Charlie Bavington Oct 6, 2005:
A restaurant called "naughty donkey"? Shocking :-)))
Conor McAuley Oct 6, 2005:
Oh come on now Rita, in fairness. We're adults here, I'm sure we can deal with the word "badass". There's a restaurant in Dublin called the "Badass Caf"...even Dublin City Council approves of the word!
RHELLER Oct 6, 2005:
this should be labeled "may be offensive"

Fouteur de merde / fouteuse de merde !!!

It is exactly the Hachette-Oxford entry for "bad ass"
Don't know whether it fits your context.

Cf. Hachette-Oxford:
bad ass[!!]noun US fouteur/-euse m/f de merde[!!!].

HTH, Olivier
Peer comment(s):

disagree Andreas THEODOROU : dont think so - this is more like 'shit stirrer' or 'trouble maker'

racaille

D'après Tony Thorne, Contemporary Slang, badass = (an) aggressive, antisocial or worthless (person). The word, first popular among black Americans, is almost always now used with an element of approval or admiration, albeit sometimes grudging.
Peer comment(s):

neutral alx : un "bad boy" se dit avec admiration tandis que racaille a une connotation néga: on peut être fier d'être un bad boy mais pas une "caille".

C'est vrai qu'il manque le petit kekchoz admiratif : une "terreur", peut-être...
disagree Andreas THEODOROU : tout à fait d'accord avec Alexandra

caid

This is slang for head of a gang, the top man, the don' and I think it can be used in the same context.

BTW the i should have two dots anvoe it but I cant find the character (ie it is pronounced kaid not ked)

Note from asker:
Hi, the character for the dots should be Shift + circonflexe if you are using a North American keyboard set for French. ;)
Maybe it will help you to find it on an AZERTY ;)
