I think it means alone

This is very poorly written verse. The writer is merely piling rhymes. Your guess about the intended meaning is as good as any. You can't hurt the "meaning" anyway. There is no need for agony regarding accurate rendition.

alone sounds fine to me, but I think that خليا here stands for متخليا عنه or خاليا rather than وحيدا. I also agree with Mr. Fuad's comment, this verse is poorly written, but you should keep the meaning however :)
