Figure-8

English to French Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng speakers, owner's manual
I am pretty confused by the term above in the following sentences :

Figure-8 Power Input Socket
1 x Euro Figure-8 Power cable 1.8m long
1 x UK Figure-8 Power cable 1.8m long

« en 8 »

Décrit la forme du cordon tel qu'il est replié à la livraison.

Voir le site ci-après qui donne cette expression. Une autre possibilité « très courte » en tout cas...

Merci bien!
agree Tony M : Yes, although it's not referring to the way the cable is wrapped, but to the type of connector on the appliance end of it.

Probably you are right, but it does not change the quality of my proposal.

Je crois que cela fait reference à la vue en coupe de la partie femelle du cable qui ressemble à un 8.

I don't believe this refers to 'figure-of-eight' cross-section cables, but rather to the particular type of mains connector, commonly used on double-insulated portable mains appliances, and as shown here:

http://fr.farnell.com/pro-elec/con1/power-lead-fig8-to-open-...

Sadly, Farnell being a UK company, its 'translation' can hardly be relied upon; however, in a quick search I have been unable to find the equivalent product listed by a native FR site with a better description; and after all, 'figure huit' does indeed explain what is is, even in FR!

I think Daniel's suggestion of '(fiche) en 8' seems to be quite widely used, certainly a lot more Googles than my own suggestion.

Merci, Beila ! :-) But in fact, I think Daniel has come up with the right term, in French French.
