Bulgarian term

ХБН

Bulgarian to English Medical Medical: Health Care cardiology
sorry for lack of Cyrillic. This is in a report on an heart patient. I'm pretty sure that the start is Hronichna Bolest, but I can't work out what the N (Cyrillic H) would be.

No problem :) In such cases just ask the moderators to edit the question.
David Connor (asker) Mar 18, 2016:
That is the correct Cyrillic, Kalinka. It's just that I don't know how to switch to a Cyrillic keyboard as I never work in that direction.
Kalinka Hristova Mar 18, 2016:
Just to make sure I don't make a mess... ...before I edit the question: the abbreviation should read ХБН, right?
David Connor (asker) Mar 18, 2016:
thanks! It is now clearly chronic pulmonary or renal insufficiency. The patient does have COPD, but could also have kidney problems. I'll just make a note that the Bulgarian words for kidney and lungs start with the same letter, so we can't be sure. Or I'll just wait till I get further into this, so it may become obvious. Feel free to answer the question and provide a translation and I'll select you in due course.
Petar Tsanev Mar 18, 2016:
More context? There are at least two possibilities. Тhe Н stands for недостатъчност (insufficiency/failure). Most likely, the Б is either белодробна (pulmonary) or бъбречна (renal).

хронична бъбречна/белодробна недостатъчност

Възможно е да е хронична бъбречна недостатъчност или хронична белодробна недостатъчност. И двете се съкращават ХБН.

thanks for your answer. I had to select the first answerer because he/she got in first.
