Name change lawsuit or a petition for name change Explanation: A lawsuit to change a person's name is often called a name change lawsuit or a petition for name change. In some jurisdictions, it may also be referred to as a petition for change of name or a petition for a name decree. In general, a person seeking to change their name must file a legal petition with the court, providing evidence of their current name and the proposed new name, as well as a reason for the change. The court will then review the petition and determine whether to grant the request. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 mins (2022-12-12 11:06:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- A lawsuit to change a person's name is typically called a petition for a name change. In the United States, this process is governed by state law, so the specific requirements and procedures for filing a petition for a name change can vary depending on where you live. Generally speaking, however, a petition for a name change is a legal proceeding in which a person asks a court to legally change their name. This might be for a variety of reasons, such as to reflect a change in gender identity or to correct a misspelling on their birth certificate. The court will typically consider factors such as the person's age, the reason for the requested name change, and any potential negative impact on others before deciding whether to grant the petition. |

petition for correction of name Explanation: --https://legitdigest.com/2021/05/15/gan-v-republic/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 mins (2022-12-12 11:02:24 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2022-12-12 12:42:12 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It is not a claim to change the name, it is a claim to correct the name, and the term used in courts is "partition for correction of name". As you said you need a term equivalent for the correction of the name not for changing the name. |
