agree  philgoddard: Or "the contracts were signed". I don't think you need to say "formal".

  -> Maybe, but the context is a public tender in which the contracting authority is the Angolan state.

Contracts Signing Ceremony

Explanation:
- as opposed to Acta as a record of such.

Wills and Deeds - as well as of contracts - are 'executed' > meaning plain signing and dating, though - like (BrE) completion (AmE) closing - is ambiguous for contract performance.

PS this answer is directed to my work colleagues, past & present.

Example sentence(s):
  • A signing ceremony is a *formal* occasion at which a significant document is *formally* signed.
  • Execution Ceremony Definition A ceremony held for the purpose of executing a will according to the formal requirements of the state statute..

Upon contract execution / upon execution of the agreement

Explanation:
Em inglês, o mais correto é "execution" e não "signature". Quando se celebra um contrato, ele é "executed". "Signature" refere-se tão somente à assinatura física da pessoa no documento.

neutral  Mark Robertson: Execution is often not used, except in the case of deeds, because it means to perform, or to complete, which can cause confusion. You are right about signature being a partial false friend, but the noun "signing" fills the gap.

  -> I must disagree this time, Mark. In Portutuguese we also have "assinar o contrato" and "celebrar" or "firmar". The latter are more formal, just like "execute in En, and the former is the "popular" version.
