claim Explanation: Although the actual meaning is closer to "disaster", "accident", etc., these words usually introduce shades of meaning not present in Spanish (for example, "accident" suggests nobody is to blame, as has already been pointed out). For what it's worth, "claim" is what I've used in the past for several insurance-related documents (and "incident" for "evento"). It will normally work, although may need slight rephrasing. e.g. "Documentación mínima en caso de siniestro" = "Minimum documentation necessary to make a claim". |
