This peddling attitude enlivens the way I teach. Esta vocación de buhonero aviva mi modo de enseñar. Explanation: Or: "...insufla vida en... Indeed, peddling sometimes has a negative connotation, but this is the word that the author uses to describe the way he teaches. I therefore think it should be conserved in the translation. I think that using "vocación de" here is also appropriate, since the author seems to be referring to a general tendency that comes from deep inside of himself, and not just some kind of pose. |

;-) Saludos cordiales. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2017-06-02 22:03:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Bueno, aquí tienes un ejemplo del Oxford: https://es.oxforddictionaries.com/translate/english-spanish/... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day1 hr (2017-06-03 21:21:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Si lo de "actidud propagandística" o "difusora" me parece adecuado. Saludos cordiales. |

actitud promotora Explanation: My understanding is that a 'peddling attitude' is one that you 'sell' or 'support,' which suggests the word 'supporting' could probably be given a starring role in the source text. ;-) That's my take at least, supported (no pun intended) by its use below. El iris de la paz. Paz y conflictos en la independencia de Venezuela: https://books.google.com/books?isbn=8415443935 - Translate this page Alfaro Pareja, Francisco - 2014 ... de expansión en Hispanoamérica pero, a su vez, **esta actitud promotora** de vías de diálogo entre ambos sectores también refleja la internalización de valores ... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2017-06-03 10:42:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Disregard that clause above starting with 'which'. In short, a 'peddling' attitude in one you have when 'selling' something, whether it's a tangible or intangible, it's supported and 'sold'. In this vein, the source text could convey the same information perhaps even if the 'supporting' were omitted. Possible source text (confirmation on this would be helpful): From chapter two of "Teachers as Readers: Perspectives on the Importance of Reading in Teachers' Classrooms and Lives" "I had the pleasure of observing one of my student teachers performing a dramatic reading of Caps for Sale: A Tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys & Their Monkey Business (Esphyr, 1947) with her pre-K–K class. As I watched the unfolding of this experience, my mind wandered and wondered about the relationship between being a book lover and the **peddling attitude** I have for supporting teaching from a more authentic stance. I hope I can explain how this attitude enlivens how we live, how we read, and how we teach." http://www.scottishbooktrust.com/files/Teachers_As_Readers_b... And even if this is not the source text, use of this phrase on other sites suggests this may be the (rather nuanced) meaning of 'peddling' as an adjective. I hope this helps! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2017-06-03 10:45:19 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- erratum: "In short, a 'peddling' attitude IS one you have when..." -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 hrs (2017-06-03 11:58:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- De nada, Sor. Estoy de acuerdo. Creo que 'peddling' es, al fin y al cabo, vender, incluso ideas, y hacerlo con una 'actitud promotora' (dándolas a conocer para que la gente las 'compre') suena natural, diría yo. Suerte y saludos :-) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2017-06-03 23:01:06 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- source text with a suggested one-word omission (i.e., a small edit to eliminate an apparent redundancy): "...the peddling attitude I have for teaching from a more authentic stance" possible translation: ...la actitud promotora que tengo hacia la enseñanza realizada/que se realiza desde una perspectiva auténtica [o quizá, **desde una posición/postura auténtica**] |
