Precision questioning
Precision and probing questioning gets straight to the heart of things

People are vague in what they say, and there can be gaps in your understanding. Probing with precision questions can help recover information that’s missing.

disagree  archtrans: This suggestion might well be more appropriate for marketing, but not necessarily pedagogy or coaching. In any case, my research didn't turn up "Nachfragen" in German sources from those fields.

  -> I don't understand your disagree - I consider 'precision and probing questioning' to be a single concept, and 'probing' is definitely 'Nachfragen' in market research, interviewing or similar (techniques used in these fields are often very similar).

präzise Befragung

Explanation:
Very close to your suggestion, Martina. "Befragung" goes to "questioning" rather than "questions".

This book puts Befragung with "präzise":

Coaching & Beratung.

An alternative might be "Präzisions-Befragung". Link below. I don't know if this is considered a separate answer or not - I don't wish to cause a problem. If pressed, I suppose I'd go with this if you are after the most literal translation.

Example sentence(s):

Your two examples bear all the hallmarks of machine translation - Linguee includes all sorts of translations regardless of quality considerations.

  -> I agree, the second sentence is messed up grammatically. Note, I did search carefully, and this specialized term gets very few hits. The example's from a related specialty. It discusses the meaning of term directly, so the content is of primary value.
