Spanish term or phrase: tiene esa impronta
This is the context and I understand "impronta" as having a negative effect, is that correct?

Si los comportamientos comunicativos, que serían la unidad global donde podemos encerrar todo, tanto los elementos lingüísticos como no lingüísticos, los sociológicos, etc., son de carácter idiosincrásico, la enseñanza tiene también esa impronta.

be of the same (or similar) nature
Explanation:
Whether it is positive or not, I don't know.
I read it this way: "if the communicative behaviour.... is idiosyncratic, then the teaching will be along the same (are similar) lines..."

BTW: whether it is negative or not is moot IMO. "Ours not to reason why" ...

has that / the same quality // so is (the) teaching

Explanation:
Literally stamp or mark ("marca o huella que, en el orden moral, deja una cosa en otra"): in other words, the "comportamientos comunicativos" are idiosyncratic and so is teaching (or "the teaching"; from this extract it's difficult to tell whether it needs the article — whether it's teaching in general or a particular kind of teaching): it is marked with the same characteristic.

In practice "impronta" really means the same as "carácter" here. You could translate it as "also has that character" or "has the same character", but you may be using "character" just before this for "carácter idiosincrásico", so you could use "quality" instead, I think, or possibly "attribute". But actually I think you could just say "so is (the) teaching" (in other words, teaching or the teaching is also of an idiosyncratic character): it would be neater, perhaps, and the essential meaning would be conveyed.

I agree with Simon: imponta is not inherently negative.

agree  Toni Castano: I was thinking of "nature/same nature", but quality is also fine. Your explanations outstanding, as usual.

-> Thanks, Toni! "Nature" would be perfectly OK, of course.

agree  neilmac: Like Toni, "of a similar nature" was what sprang to kind...

-> Fair enough! Thanks, Neil :)

agree  Pablo Julián Davis: I think 'quality' is just right, and clearly 'impronta' is not negative, indeed, generally bears no value judgment in particular.
