Es geht um ein Online-System, in dem bei einem internationalen Unternehmen die Daten der Mitarbeiter für ein Talentprofil erfasst werden. Die Daten werden von den Mitarbeitern selbst ins System eingegeben.
"Completing your Talent Profile is optional. Information you provide within your Talent Profile is used by your leader and those above your leader in the hierarchy and by Human Resources to better understand the ***backgrounds*** of our employees. "
Ich überprüfe eine vorliegende Übersetzung. Diese lautet:
"...um die Hintergründe unserer Mitarbeiter besser zu verstehen".
Das gefällt mir gar nicht. Allerdings will mir auch keine elegante Lösung einfallen.

aus dem Kontext:

es sollen da persönliche Angaben gemacht werden zu Interessen etc., um Vorgesetzten und der Personalabteilung die Möglichkeit zu geben, den "persönlichen Hintergrund" -und ich meine es passt besser als Werdegang, denn hier geht es um persönliche Interessen- der Mitarbeiter besser zu verstehen. Ich verstehe es so, dass es hier nicht nur um Berufliches geht.

Explanation:
ich wäre bei näherem hinsehen (nach dem einwand von jenny streitparth) auch geneigt, background weiter zu verstehen. es scheint ja um freiwillige angaben zu gehen, und talent profile klingt schon verdächtig nach "und, was sind so ihre hobbies?". kann natürlich auch nur ausbildung etc. meinen, was dann mit werdegang ganz gut gedeckt wäre. die inhalte der profiles gibts nicht zufällig dazu?

noch eine variante: stärken und interessen. das ist etwas euphemistisch und immerhin damit sehr treu zum original. letztlich müsste man hier aber wirklich mal die profile sehen...
