Thank you all very much. That seems to be what happens in Brazil. Reapresentar means to deposit the check again. There is also "representation", but the context is a little different.

  -> Thanks for the feedback, Marian. Please note that that check "foi devolvido por falta de fundos" and that the collection company now "ameaça reapresentá-lo". In this context, in Brazil, "reapresentar um cheque" means to deposit it for the second time.

From SERRA, A.K. and PONTES, Y.S. - Dicionário de Comércio Exterior, page 164 (São Paulo: Aduaneiras, 2004).

Note the importance of the hyphen here, to distinguish between "re-present" (present again) and "represent". This is often overlooked but could make all the difference, for example, "the waiter re-served the table" (served the people again).
