No, I have absolutely zero interest in watching sporting events, nor do I have a TV in my home.
Yes, sometimes if I can, others I watch later, it depends on my workload. Usually I watch:
Gymnastics
Formula One
Tennis (Wimbledon and Roland Garros)
Olympiads (swimming, diving, track and field)
I’ve been watching all EURO matches… | | | Bruno Pavesi Brezilya Local time: 22:12 Üye (2020) İngilizce > Portekizce + ... Only when my team is playing | Jun 30, 2021 |
Which is way more than I should be watching. I was raised in Boston, so I have quite a few teams to check out.
I absolutely love football, so the EURO is being a delight during my off days (when I get those).

I rarely watch TV and don't follow most sports. Though I might watch some of the Olympic events, but only if my workload allows. | | | LIZ LI Çin Local time: 09:12 Fransızca > Çince + ...
Some sports events (e.g. volleyball & tennis) are always part of my schedule, so no need to "push" from nothing.
But I had to "squeeze" out some time for my son when my husband was yelling in front of a TV during some football games.
Whenever work permits, I plan my time so I can watch whatever I like and enjoy. That's part of the pros of being a freelancer, no? I don't like watching sports events later. Nothing beats direct, whether your team or country is playing or your competitors.

When I've finished the work I've assigned myself for the day, I may watch a sporting event, either live if available, or on one of the various catchup services.
In general, I gave up watching live TV more than a decade ago. I get sport and other forms of entertainment through the internet, to be watched at a time and in a place that suits me. In general, I gave up watching live TV more than a decade ago. I get sport and other forms of entertainment through the internet, to be watched at a time and in a place that suits me. So currently, for example, I'm following Wimbledon, but a day or so behind. I just have to take care not to learn yesterday's results from some other news medium.
Why would anybody voluntarily suffer the ad breaks and other annoyances of live TV, when it's not necessary any more? ▲ Collapse

I'm struggling enough to "steal" 6-7 hours sleep on the weekends, I sleep in 2-3 hour "installments" on weekdays, and when work time is "normal" so to speak, I will enjoy a trip to the grocery store or do my laundry. More than half of my money will go to taxes, insurance, family obligations, etc., then you got rent and bills, the unexpected dentist etc., and some bad purchases because I lack the time to thoroughly research what I buy. Oh boy, am I living the dream or what...

And perhaps on a cigarette break I would probably watch a 10-minute video on YouTube made by a trust-fund young adult enjoying his new hobby in a semi-exotic destination, and dreaming that maybe, one day... for the time being I dream of winter, with longer nights I can use to work without interruptions and the annoying sense of daylight outside the window.
I actually wish there were translators watching sports on TV... because that would "self-regulate" the industry to a more comfortable pace. It could even give the indication to LSPs and project managers that they are dealing with human beings on the other end of the email, and not 24/7 available "at a moment's notice" machines. ▲ Collapse | | | Kamal Idkaidek Local time: 03:12 Üye (2019) İbranice > İngilizce + ... Do you push your working hours to see sports events on TV? | Jul 1, 2021 |
I watch what is of interest to me.
If my team/country is playing.
Olympics I won't watch in full, but some 100 m finals and such, live is the best way to go
All that has to be communicated before with LSPs for sure.
The rest I leave for the weekend, and might just watch highlights.
100 hours a week, 40 dollars an hour, 50 weeks a year = only 200,000 dollars a year.
No wonder you can’t afford to sleep.
As for me, I somehow bumble by on 20-25 hours a week, watching whatever I want and sleeping as much as I want.
Can both these realities be real? | | | neilmac İspanya Local time: 02:12 İspanyolca > İngilizce + ...
I might rearrange my usual schedule, depending on how much I want to see the event. As a freelancer, I can usually juggle my times to fit non-work stuff in if necessary. Like yesterday, I went for a COVID vaccination, which took about an hour. And I'll probably watch some EURO football this weekend, although if the match gets boring, I might just do some work to pass the time more fruitfully instead.

... and avoid hearing the result on beforehand? I managed to do so with the Eurovision Songfestival, where I stopped watching after the last song on Saturday evening and continued first thing on Sunday morning - carefully avoiding my phone, the radio and the regular TV broadcasting.
