I have no preference whatsoever. I live alone, so no family obligations. I have no set time for work as long as the job gets done. My work day depends on a lot of things: Did I sleep well the night before? Am I tired? What does my workload look like? In this business, there’s no such a thing as a typical day (fortunately). Some days, my engine is slow to start and I find myself being more productive around 3 or 4 pm, others everything is done and dusted around noon and I’ll have the afternoo... See more I have no preference whatsoever. I live alone, so no family obligations. I have no set time for work as long as the job gets done. My work day depends on a lot of things: Did I sleep well the night before? Am I tired? What does my workload look like? In this business, there’s no such a thing as a typical day (fortunately). Some days, my engine is slow to start and I find myself being more productive around 3 or 4 pm, others everything is done and dusted around noon and I’ll have the afternoon free. Occasionally I’ll work until 11 or 12 pm when a translation is flowing well, but that’s all. No all-nighters! With long projects, I set myself a daily translation quota and I work until my quota is met. When I happen to exceed my quota and I find myself quite ahead of schedule, I feel a childish satisfaction. I'm my own boss and occasionally I work way, way, way more hours than I did when I was an employee, but that’s my choice and I always find ways to compensate myself… ▲ Collapse | | | Thayenga Almanya Local time: 07:13 Üye (2009) İngilizce > Almanca + ...
Whenever I have a chance to translate, I'll do it, depending on my other obligations. This could be at any time day or night. | | | Vera Schoen İsveç Local time: 07:13 Üye (2008) Almanca > İsveççe + ... Early mornings | Dec 22, 2019 |
I love to work early mornings when all is quiet and my brains are rested.
I, of course, work as much and whenever is needed, but being my own boss, I prefer to schedule the lion part my work really early in the morning. | |

In the morning: the phone rings, lots of emails arrive, lots of people interrupting you all the time, lot of noise out in the street, etc.
At night: the phone doesn't ring, the number of emails is five times lower, almost noboby and no cars out in the street, no one to interrupt your work, etc.
I see no argument in favor of waking up early to work. | | | Muriel Vasconcellos (X) Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Local time: 23:13 İspanyolca > İngilizce + ...

12:30. I translate it as "twelve-thirty" or "mezzogiorno e mezzo".
I also translate other times of the day.

I used to work best in late afternoon, but nowadays I find myself getting up early to get cracking and get at least a good draft done so that I feel comfortable about my workload. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: At the moment, my favorite time of day to translate is...
